Carries People, Carries Stuff!

Lexus RXhImage via Wikipedia

Introducing Lisa Sullivan; Social media and community liaison, President of the OFFICIAL Jason Gerhardt Fan Club, Blogger, writer, wife and just a good soul

What was your first car?

  • 1980 baby blue Ford Pinto with no air, no power steering, a radio that barely worked (only AM channels) but it was FREE!

Any significant memories w/that car?

  • Nothing that stands out accept to say when you live in the city (Boston to be exact) like we did and you owned a car, it was a luxury no matter what kind of car it was. Grocery shopping became a highlight!

What’s parked in your driveway now?

  • 2007 Dodge Caliber

Does your car reflect your personality?

  • Kinda. It “carries people, carries stuff” which is what I aimed for when I bought it. I wanted a vehicle that would reflect the fact that I love being with people and I wanted it to be able to carry as much “stuff” as possible so if I needed to help those same folks, I could. The next vehicle, though, will be a hybrid small SUV.

Favorite vehicle(s)?

  • I’m not much of a car-lover but I do have a dream vehicle - the Lexus RX Hybrid in Bamboo Pearl.

Favorite vehicle…if money were no object?

  • The Lexus RX Hybrid in Bamboo Pearl or something a bit larger.

Vanity Plates?

  • We’re supporters of the Smokey Mountains so our plate reflects that on one vehicle. On the other, it’s just a standard issue NC license plate.

  • Built in navigation with Blue Tooth capabilities and choice multi-media.

Favorite driving tunes?

  • Anything on my IPOD.

Favorite Hollywood movie car?

  • I always had a soft spot for the original Knight Rider’s KIT car.

Little Red Mustang…

2005-2008 Ford Mustang photographed in USA.Image via Wikipedia

Introducing Christa M. Miller; Providing PR content and social media consulting to public safety agencies and the companies that serve them. Horror fiction writer/editor. WAHM to 2 boys.

What was your first car?

  • A forest green 1996 Ford Escort LX. (I was 22. The salesman tried to get me to buy a little red Mustang. Is it sad that at that age, the Escort was more “me” than the Mustang? Yeah, I thought so.)

Any significant memories w/that car?

  • Spinning out on black ice and ending up on top of a snowbank… driving home on 3” of unplowed snow… oh, and bringing my first child home. In the middle of summer!

What’s parked in your driveway now?

  • A 1999 Ford Ranger and a 2005 Toyota Matrix.

Does your car reflect your personality?

  • Not quite. The Matrix is a little boxier and more practical than I am, and the powder blue color doesn’t fit. But it’s also not a minivan, has plenty of pep, handles great no matter the conditions, and gets good mileage. I have to say I do like driving my husband’s pickup… something about being a chick in a truck…

Favorite vehicle(s)?

  • Not enough of a car buff to get specific! If it gets me there in one piece and makes driving a joy, I like it. ;)

Favorite vehicle…if money were no object?

  • I would love a convertible of some kind….

Vanity Plates?

  • None. What can I say, we’re boring. (See #1.)

Must have car gadget?

  • CD player/changer.

Favorite driving tunes?

  • Alternative or classic rock. Favorite driving song of all time: Audioslave’s “Getaway Car,” especially on a warm summer evening.

Favorite Hollywood movie car?

  • The cool room-like automated cars in “Minority Report,” even though it was scary that they could be programmed to take you places you didn’t want to be!

  • 3-speed manual Chevy Vega in metallic green. It was the $300 16-year old special.

Any significant memories w/that car?

  • Oh yes, a Vega is full of memories, none of them pleasant. Though the fun part was learning all about brakes. • Probably would buy an Aston Martin DB9 and the new Ferrari GT California for the warm days. I’m that rich, right?

Vanity Plates?

  • No thanks.

Must have car gadget?

  • Is a torque wrench a gadget? I’ll take that.

Favorite driving tunes?

  • Depends on if it’s top up or top down. Top down - Will Smith’s Summertime. Top up - 80s alternative.

Favorite Hollywood movie car?

  • Ferris Bueller’s Day Off 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California.

I Was A Bad Driver…

Ferrari 430 Scuderia at NAIAS 08Image via Wikipedia

Introducing Alex Schoeneberger; I’m from Texas and I now live in the Soviet Republic of California. I love cars and Dallas Stars hockey.

What was your first car?

  • 1994 Jeep Cherokee

Any significant memories w/that car?

  • My Jeep was a stick, power nothing, not even 4WD, the big feature it came with was only an AM/FM radio and terrible factory speakers. After it got broken into to steal the CD playing head unit I put in (yet somehow the thief missed 200 CDs under the seats), my dad and I installed a new head unit and cut out a small square of the dash for a red blinking LED to poke out of. The LED was wired to the same wire that kept the head unit’s clock accurate when the vehicle was turned off, so it turned off when the vehicle turned on and turned on when the vehicle turned off, giving the illusion of an alarm. It worked, too… no more break-ins happened. The vehicle was pretty much indestructable unless I hit another vehicle, which I did a few times… I was a bad driver in my youth.

What’s parked in your driveway now?

  • 2000 Toyota Camry LE. Reliable, roomy, and snore-inducing, this vehicle has 120k on it and will probably last to 300k, but I don’t think I can stand to keep it that long.

Does your car reflect your personality?

  • I’m reliable. That’s about the only thing that matches up.

Favorite vehicle(s)?

  • 2009 Mazda MX-5 - insert jokes about fabulous hairdressers here, but this car is the embodiment of a British roadster without the maintenance issues. It also, with minimal modifications, outperforms vehicles that cost twice as much on the track

Favorite vehicle…if money were no object?

  • Several, in order of preference: 1. Ferrari F430 Spider 2. 1969 Datsun 240z 3. 1967 Ford Mustang GT500KR 4. 1995 Mazda RX-7 5. 1971 Corvette Stingray

Vanity Plates?

  • When I lived in Arizona, I had NTVTEXN. Not wanting to give the Soviet Republic of California any more money than they’re already going to be taking from me, I don’t have vanity plates here.

Must have car gadget?

  • 4 wheels and a way to make them go.

Favorite driving tunes?

  • Alt rock, classic rock, punk, some indie.

Favorite Hollywood movie car?

  • Toss up between the General Lee and Eleanor.

  • The car had terrible maintenance issues but was fun to drive and own. Still miss it.

Favorite vehicle(s)?
