Flames on the Hood

What was your first car?

• I inherited my parents’ 1986 Oldsmobile Delta 88. I promptly went out and got $900 of aircraft grade acrylic enamel and painted it jet black with flames on the hood. I drove that to senior prom.
  

Any significant memories w/that car?

• In college, I was in the Navy ROTC program, and the physical training was early in the morning across town from RIT at the UofR. One morning (running a little late) down East River Road by GVP, an 8-point buck decided to end his life in a flaming heap on my beloved paint-job. First and only automotive encounter with a deer - left my car totaled.
  

What’s parked in your driveway now?

• My garage is now the proud home of a 2002 Subaru Forester.
  

Does your car reflect your personality?

• The scooby reflects a side of my personality. The side that gets the groceries and needs AWD for surviving Rochester winters… but it is a small side all-in-all.
  

Favorite vehicle(s)?

• Well that is a frustrating question. I guess my favorites by category would look something like this: Hot Rod - ‘32 Coup Roadster - BMW Z4 Truck - Chevy Silverado Family Wagon - Nissan Murano Sports Car - Audi R8 I would have no idea what to choose if I had to pick one *favorite* car.
  

Favorite vehicle…if money were no object?

• Ironically, I didn’t think to put this on favorites, because I guess it’s all of the above in one. If I had a million bucks, I would grab a BMW 5 Series Gran Tourismo. It’s not the sexiest thing that BMW has ever made, but I think it covers a lot of bases very elegantly.
  

Vanity Plates?

• Nope

Must have car gadget?

• iPod. I drive a LOT.
  

Favorite driving tunes?

• Podcasts. Since I’m on the road so much, spoken word is the best way to make the time go by. I am hooked on howstuffworks.com’s self-named podcasts. Josh and Chuck are hilarious. Actual tunes… gotta go with Red Hot Chili Peppers.
  

Favorite Hollywood movie car?

• The Lexus concept from Minority Report.
