• What was your first car?

A 1995 Ford Escort GT. Bright metallic green, five-speed manual, fantastic handling for a 16-year old!

• Any significant memories w/that car?

Helped introduce me to autocross, and it spent many a winter’s night sliding sideways through snowy parking lots. Hoon-tastic!

• What’s parked in your driveway now?

Depends what day it is. I’m an automotive journalist, so it changes every day. Right now, a Saab 9-3 Turbo X.

• Does your car reflect your personality?

Since I don’t own a car right now, I suppose it means I’m boring and vapid.

• Favorite vehicle(s)?

I have a new appreciation for Mercedes-Benz thanks to the new C63 AMG, and the R8 makes me feel funny all over.

• Favorite vehicle…if money were no object?

Any Group B rally machine… preferably something German or Italian.

• Vanity Plates? If so - what’s on them?

No.

• Must have car gadget?

Satellite radio: the comedy networks are of high importance on my presets.

• Favorite driving tunes?

AC/DC’s TNT; anything from Pearl Jam’s Ten album; Harry Connick Jr.

• Favorite Hollywood movie car?

KITT (the original, though!)
