Running On One Cylinder…

• What was your first car?

1967 VW fastback…red. Paid $600 cash, back when buying a car didn’t require a mortgage. :)

• Any significant memories w/that car?

When I bought it, it seemed a little sluggish but I had to wait two weeks until payday to take it to a mechanic. Found out it was only running on one cylinder. Those old VWs — you just couldn’t kill ‘em. It was also fun to see people try to find the engine.

• What’s parked in your driveway now?

Just bought a 2008 Nissan Altima. Sold my 1995 Nissan 240SX last year.

• Does your car reflect your personality?

More like it reflects my status — needed something that a child safety seat would fit in. And wouldn’t drive me to the poorhouse.

• Favorite vehicle(s)?

An old Jaguar XKE

• Favorite vehicle…if money were no object?

Wow, tough question. Think I’d rather have a 10-car garage and fill it with variety — whatever might suit my passion for the day. New BMW Z4, ‘58 VW bug convertible, ‘65 Mustang,…and definitely KIT from that show!

• Vanity Plates?

Nope.

But now that Florida will sell one that says “In God We Trust” maybe I will buy it. What should it say? One Way? Gods Grl?

• Must have car gadget?

My new Altima has push button start. Amazing how easy it is to get accustomed to. I drove my husband’s car to work one day and stared at the lock for about 30 seconds before I remembered, “Keys, I have to have a key!”

• Favorite driving tunes?

• Favorite Hollywood movie car?

James Bond’s BMW
